I WON'T MASTURBATE IN 2012

It is a new year and a good resolution to have. Everyone wants to move forward. Masturbation has a way of keeping you in one place and it is the cry and indeed the resolution of many to stop. It was my resolution some time ago as well but by the grace of God, masturbation is in my past so I want to share some short insights with you.

THE FOOD OF MASTURBATION

Masturbation is solo sex; sex with yourself. It thrives on free time, sexual imaginary fantasy, secrecy and a promise of release of sexual tension. These are the foods that masturbation loves to eat. So if you want to kill masturbation deny masturbation of food. So I have these five simplified points to help you kill masturbation but remember it all starts with a realization that you have a problem which you desperately want to resolve.

1. 1. MASTURBATION IS BELOW ME

   Imagine that you reading in a new paper this headline: "Queen Elizabeth wants to stop scavenging on rubbish damp-sites" How on earth should that ever be a problem to the great queen on the England? Scavengers need food which the queen has in abundance. In the same way until I saw masturbation as below my standard I always seemed to enjoy its promise of sexual release. In Revelations 5:10 you are specified as a king so you start picking and choosing some things. Many things suddenly fall below your standard when you look at yourself through God's eyes especially when you realize that you were worth the death of Jesus on the cross for you.

2. 2. MASTURBATION IS NOT THE PROBLEM

   Masturbation has never been the problem. Masturbation is only symptom of a real problem: LUST. You have a problem with lust and the overflow of it is what makes you masturbate. James 1:14 says we are tempted by our own desires. What you feed your desires with is what you will desire. Desire can never be neutral, it is either feeding on the right things or on the wrong this. If you refuse to feed your desire with the correct things your desire will naturally settle for the wrong things because of your sinful nature. That is why David concluded the only way a young person can keep his way pure is to feed his desire with the Word of God(Psalm 119:9-11). Check the movies, the songs, the hugs, the profane chats and comments and replace them with the word of God and you will be on your way smiling out of masturbation.

3. 3. DESIRE REPLACEMENT

   Since masturbation only reflects what you have been feeding your desire you need to now re-orient your system to desire new passions. The book of 2 Tim 2:22 says that when you flee youthful lust you must pursue something else. It is stupid to flee the chase of a dangerous animal like a lion only to go and stand a few meters away to catch your breath. Keep running whilst desiring in the process a locked safe house where you cannot be touched. Proverbs 18:10 says that the name of the LORD is a strong tower, the righteous run into it and are saved. Pursue a lifestyle of righteousness daily even when it seem elusive, speak into your future positive words of faith like...I see a 2012 as masturbation free... and since life and death lies in the power of the tongue you will prevail.

4. 4. TURN ON THE LIGHTS

   Masturbation thrives on secrecy and darkness in general. Break that secret code, tell somebody about it especially someone you are shy of. Get that person to be your accountability partner(James 5:16). In my case I started sharing my story to the young people who looked up to me and it was marvelous because each time the thought to masturbate came, I would imagine whether I could speak in victory to them again and then quickly I will shift my mind to something more positive.

5. 5. HIGH SECURITY ZONE: THE MIND

   Masturbation is reflection that the software running your mind is corrupted. So in order to stop masturbation be sure to run a very strict antivirus program that checks and deletes the smallest of lustful thoughts. Never give room for any breach because if the software is breached no matter how small, it is only time when the hardware(your sexual organ) will respond to the command of the software. The best software program is the word of God check what is in the package from Philippians 4:8.
