Passion Story I

Introduction

From the great commission in Matthew 28:19-20, Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour told us what to do, where to do it and when to do it, but he never told us how to do it. I believe that he did that so that we can use the creative abilities he has given to us to spread the good news everywhere and at any time. There is no doubt that over the years sports has become one of the most popular and exciting things on earth. It is so powerful that it has been able to bring together all kinds of people together to unite them in love and peace. People leave their comfortable homes, pay a lot of money among others, and leave to near and far places just to participate in one sporting activity or the other. Launched on Monday, 5th August, 2013 during the debriefing after the 2013 GO FORTH missions, Sportstronic as a sub ministry seeks to seize this opportunity to use sports as a means to spread the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Mandate

We seek to reach young people using sports, games and other experiential learning methods. Sportstronic believes in harnessing the abundant energies of young people to focus on Jesus.

Reach Out Projects

  1. JHS TRONIC-REACH
Here, we visit various JHS schools and serve as PE coordinators during their PE periods. During the session, we lead them to play some sports and experiential learning games and later spend some time with them discussing some of the lessons learnt during the debriefing period.
  2. TRONICS VISTA:
Here, in conjunction with camp vista, we organize camps mainly for young people who love sports. The sports could either be specific or general. At the camp, everything that is done is sports related. The ultimate aim is to disciple young people in Christ to bear fruits of their salvation both on and off the sports field.
  3. HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS COMPETITION
Here, we serve as sports coordinators and organize a particular sporting event or different sporting events for different schools to participate in. at the end of the event, the word of God is spoken to the young people and opportunity is created for some of them to commit their lives to following Jesus.
  4. CHURCH OUTREACH
this is where we seek for permission in churches to have about ten to fifteen minutes to have icebreakers with their Teen Service, after which we shortly minister the word using the lessons learnt from the games.
  5. SWEET SWEAT
Sweet–sweat is a jogging activity organized at various communities on Saturday mornings. It is characterized by sometime of sweet jogging, playing of various exciting indoor and outdoor games and climaxed with some powerful refreshment and word sharing.
