Passion Story I

Introduction

Everything starts from this sub ministry which seeks to bring young people together to regularly meet and spur themselves unto love and good works. So wherever young people are found whether in communal settlements, schools, universities or offices Love Fellowships are located. In the process all Teens Aloud members belong to a Love Fellowship.

A Love Fellowship is a gathering of young people anywhere (five or more), either virtually or physically, to deploy the full vision of TAF – which is to challenge a young generation to believe in their gifted purpose and passionately pursue Jesus Christ to take His life-giving message to the ends of the earth. All our programs are tailored with the aim of gradually and eventually enrolling every young person into one Love Fellowship or the other. All of us are where we are in Teens Aloud because we were groomed through a Love Fellowship.

Responsibilities

Many people give their lives to Christ when they are Children but they stabilize their faith in their teens. Jesus was so full of hope for the new church when His work here on earth was done and felt more than confident to hand over to us when in Matthew 28:18-19 He declared, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations….” Jesus was simply saying you see the time and energy I have spent investing in you, go and do same with everyone you find. A disciple is a student who takes time to learn in a regimented system for a long time. However, these days many altar calls are filled with believers who keep giving their lives to Christ over and over again because “they never studied the course they chose”. There are so many reasons for this:
1. Some of our churches seem not to pay close attention to discipleship of teenagers and consign themselves to only Sunday service for adults.
2. Many churches and groups have reduced discipleship to finishing a course but forget to have Christian models who will show people how to be a Christian by living it. Discipleship is personal and not impersonal or remote.
3. A mad rush to count new converts than disciples to satisfy our ego.
4. Many people unaware or unwilling to do the hard work of shepherding. (Matthew 9:36)

When Paul wanted to advice young Timothy in 2 Timothy 2:22 on how he could flee youthful lusts and pursue Christlikeness, he was quick to warn him not to try going alone but to go along with others who were also seeking to know Jesus in truth. so as aresult, Love Fellowships were started to teens flee from lust with the help of fellow teens. Love Fellowships have so many advantages namely:
1. A teenbuilder can have a small number of teens who live around to disciple.
2. Regularity of meetings ensure that Hebrews 10:24 is activated.
3. There is a constant pool to draw teenagers to camp.
4. There is a group to be accountable to.
5. There is a good opportunity to enjoy the word, praise and worship and prayer.
6. A teenbuilder gets to model a life of Christ that Teens can watch and follow.
7. The fellowship of love changes better than anything else.

Types of Love Fellowships

There are three types of Love Fellowships; Mentoract Love Fellowships, Community-based Love Fellowships and Teenbuilder Love Fellowships.

  1. 1. MENTORACT LOVE FELLOWSHIPS
Mentoract Love Fellowships are Junior High School or Senior High School based love fellowships. Here, they also meet weekly to fellowship and grow together. They are transitional love fellowships because one stops being a member when he or she graduates from school.
  2. 2. COMMUNITY-BASED LOVE FELLOWSHIPS
Community-based Love Fellowships are fellowships where young people residing in a locality come together to fellowship weekly. The venue for meetings should be a “walking distance” from the home of members.
  3. 3. TEENBUILDER LOVE FELLOWSHIPS
Teenbuilder Love Fellowships are post-secondary or tertiary educational community-based Love Fellowships. Here, young people in the same tertiary institution come together for weekly fellowship meetings. These kinds of love fellowships are known as transitional love fellowships too because membership ends as soon as one graduates from school.
